Pastor Caroline - April 1, 2020

Today is April 1st., the start of a new month and hopefully more signs of spring! ðŸ˜ŠðŸ˜Š

The days are longer and we all want to be “out and about”, however, we are asked to stay close to home because of COVID-19. Many Nova Scotians are giving up their face-to-face visits with friends, their trips to Tim’s for coffee, the trips to the mall to see who is there and their travelling just for the sake of “getting out of town for a day”.  I am one of these people. ðŸ˜Š  I don’t know about you, but anyone who knows me, knows this comes under “giving up” on my part. I love to be “out and about“ with people, it’s what makes me tick. However, I am being compliant to the requests from government and appreciative for God’s protection.

Now, concerning the reading today, from David Jeremiah‘s book, “Daily in His Presence”, we are talking about “being generous”. God wants us to be generous with our time, talent, and treasure. In other words, spend some time with God and with people, use every talent you have to better the lives of others, giving glory to God as you do, and give cheerfully to the church to further the work of the Lord and to those in need. We need to help others at all times, not just during times of COVID-19, but, every time you see a need in someone’s life, see if there’s someway you can help. If the need is large, engage others to help out. This brings people together and everyone is blessed.

God is not looking for you to give away all you have, but according to what you have, consider the proportion you can share. For example, perhaps you have a car, and your neighbour does not, well you could drive them to the grocery store or wherever they need to go.That is giving “of your time“ and “your treasure”.  Perhaps you are an artist,  singer, performer of the arts or whatever your talent is that brings you an income, consider donating generously to a community need in the area where you live. That is giving,  ”of your talent”. There are so many ways to give cheerfully, and on a regular basis. You will see how what you do for others, “out of  a giving heart”, will bring honour to God, and God is always pleased with a cheerful giver. He looks at the motive and not the amount. In Proverbs Chapter 22 verse 9 it reads in The Amplified Bible this way,
(9) He who is generous will be blessed,
For he gives some of his food to the poor”.
Take “time with God”today, give yourself to Him by reading “2 Corinthians,  the whole of chapter 9”, so you have a greater understanding of giving. You will be glad you did.

I love the last paragraph of our reading today;
Giving “sacrificially and  generously“, is a way to grow faith.
God can’t fill  the hand that has a tight grip on money.
God moves into and out of open hands.

The above three sentences are a wonderful truth from our Father in heaven. Let God move beautifully in your life, you and many others will be blessed.

I want to personally thank “you”, each and every reader who takes time to give up a few minutes of your day to spend some time with God through these writings. He always makes away for us to stay connected to Him and to each other. Thanks for “giving your time” today. Enjoy every moment of every day, each moment is a gift from our Heavenly Father.
