Pastor Caroline - April 13, 2020

The title of our reading today from David Jeremiah‘s devotional Daily in His Presence, is “Finding New Strength.”

Let me give you a scripture, Psalm 46 verse 1 from the Good News Bible reads this way:

“God is our shelter and strength always ready to help in times of trouble.”

That is a powerful scripture and let me assure you “God is” our shelter and strength in times of trouble. I am thankful for His assurance to me as I search the scriptures and find tremendous strength, during these new challenges of our present times.

As we seek new strength during COVID-19 each one of us will have a different way to keep us going from strength to strength, as we develop ourselves in new ways. Perhaps you will increase your reading time in your favourite subject that you just never  had time to to study. Increasing in your knowledge now and developing that knowledge so that one day “your wisdom“ which came from your study and application; can be a benefit to others.

Perhaps you have a medical condition and your physician says you must strengthen your body, please exercise so as to regain your strength. Your state of well-being depends on you becoming physically, mentally and spiritually fit. That certainly would be the best prescription any doctor could give.(Please forgive me Doctors, I’m really not trying to do your job😊).

Perhaps you are taking a case to court to be heard before a judge and you need to have a lawyer (or yourself) have a “strong presentation” to win your case; so you perfect your argument considering all possible questions you may be asked so that your case stands on the “strength of itself.“

Many people these days are seeking and searching the Lord. Drawing their strength from God. In difficult and stressful situations/conditions/events/
catastrophes and disasters many people turn to God. We see this all through the Bible from Genesis through to Revelation. People really do not change through the years, they still are looking for answers to today’s questions of life and the Bible is an excellent source of information as to “how to live a strong life.”

In the Bible you will find Scriptures relating to “how to be” faithful, joyful, content, optimistic, loved, happy, fruitful, comforted, and peaceful- - just to name a few.

Our Bible is the:
B - Basic
I - Instruction
B - Before
L - Leaving
E - Earth
and has a wealth of scripture to build “our strengths“ in the physical, mental and spiritual areas of our life; during and through “all times” of our life.

So as David says in our reading today from the devotional Daily in His Presence, the last paragraph reads:
Regardless of our fears, we can count on God to speak to us and comfort us— just as He did to Elijah (1 Kings 19:11 -16) and send us back to our tasks with new strength.

Let’s all hold onto this very truth.

Today, open your Bible and find the strength you need, a little searching of the word will help the past time (of which we now have plenty) and bring a peace and comfort to you as it “builds your strength” for each new day.

Stay strong, Stay in, Stay safe.

Enjoy your day in Jesus.
