Dr. Barclay - Something to Think About

Theme: Love comes from God and when we receive his Son as our Savior, we truly know and experience the love of our Heavenly Father.

Today the term love is used indiscriminately, such as people saying we love our car, shoes, house, truck etc. However the Bible is very clear when it speaks of love. Love has to have a source. God is that source.
Love needs an object, we cannot love without an object.
John 1:1-5 The object of God’s love is Jesus. In the Gospels we read Thou art my beloved Son Luke 3:21-22
God loves his son, if we have received Christ as Savior and are living for him, then we are also the children of God. Romans 8:16-17 heirs of God, and joint-heirs with ChristGod wants only what is best for us and that we may spend all eternity with him.
How blessed we are to serve a loving God.

Pastor Caroline Barclay -
Theme: When our motives are pure and sincere love will be what shines through and nothing else.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7
We are nothing and of no use if we do not have love. The Bible does not change and it’s message does not change-but it changes us- it changes who we are.
Stuff and things will not make us happy and content, unless we have love. Material goods are not important, we can have very little, yet have very much if we have love.
1 John 4:16 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Love never fails, Jesus never fails. Love is eternal, Jesus is eternal.
1 Corinthians 13:13
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Roxann Spicer -

Theme: Lessons we can learn from Noah
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
 By faith we gain righteous.
Genesis 6:22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
Noah obeyed and he did as the Lord said.
Noah walked with God and had daily fellowship with God. The world had never seen rain till the flood. We read in Genesis 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. Therefore when the Lord told Noah the flood was coming, Noah prepared and believed in something he had yet seen or could even imagine. Genesis 6:14-17.
Noah did not complain or quit.
Genesis 9:20 And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard.
Noah was not a carpenter, Noah was a farmer, yet God called him to build an Ark with specific instructions, made of gopher wood, specific cubits for breadth and height. (Genesis 6:14-16)
Noah was in the ark for a year before he and his family came out and walked on dry land.
Physically- Noah had to build the ark.
Emotionally- Noah had to wait in the ark till the flood was over.
Noah had to trust in God’s faithfulness and protection.
Genesis 6:18 God made a covenant with Noah that he and his family would not perish in the flood.
Noah gave thanksgiving and praise unto God. God had protected and carried Noah and his family through the flood and Noah did not forget God.
Genesis 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Sad News For Us All

Pastor Caroline passed along the news this morning of the passing of our dear friend, Marlene MacLellen.

Quote:
"Marlene is standing in the presence of Jesus now as He came to take her to be with Him this early morning. I thank God for her and her love that she shared with everyone of us. She loved retreat and she loved to be "home" here with us. Please keep Roy, Michael and Brenda in your prayers as they let go and let God carry them through. Roy tells me she will be coming home and we will look after her celebration of life. I will keep you informed as I have info when they are ready.

"Home  going"  for Marlene MacLellan took place Thursday Feb. 16th., 2017 in Edmonton. She is now in the fullness of joy as she stands at the doorway of her heavenly home with Jesus by her side. Notes from Sunday's service: (Thanks again, Jean)

We give thanks to God as He directs the path ahead for John and Roxann Spicer who both received their Ministerial License Sunday Feb. 12 2017, at our evening service. We at Master's Hand Ministry wish them both the very best in 2017 and are proud of their achievement. They both have a servant's heart and we look forward to God's plan for them. Bless you both as you continue in the divine call upon your lives.

Dr. Barclay- Something to Think About
Theme: The Faithful Christian, is to live a life of faithful prayer and thanksgiving.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 17 pray without ceasing,
James 5:14-16 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

We all have to be thankful that we are alive and have lived to see another day. Each day we wake up we must realize how blessed we are to see another morning, as many have died and passed on the night before and did not get to see this new day.
Many around the world do not have the freedom to go to church. Many people live in fear of imprisonment and social ostracism if they go to church or if they publicly say they are a christian. Here in the western industrialized world we all have so much to be thankful for, our many blessings we often do not realize we have. We need to be continuously in prayer, thanking God for his faithfulness and mercy; ever praying for his guidance and blessing on our lives and others, even in times of hardships, trials and simply waiting for an answer.

There was no spoken sermon, but an evening of sharing, fellowship, praise and wonderful answers to prayer.

God is Good
All the time.

Dr. Barclay- Something to Think About

Theme: We must promote and grow the investment God has given us to further his kingdom.
When we receive God’s gift of grace and mercy. We have to do something with this gift. We must share God’s love and teach others about Christ.
The parable of the talents is noted in Matthew 25:14-30
Servant with five talents, increased double and made another five. Servant with two increased double and made another two. However the servant with one talent, dug it into the ground and hid it, he did not do any investing or trading to grow his money. The christian walk is like this parable. We are all to increase Christ’s kingdom. A similar parable is found in Luke 19:11-27
The parable of the Minas, a noble man gives each servant 10 minas and this noble man goes to a distant country to appoint himself king. The noble man went to a Kingdom where people did not want him as a ruler. Christ is a ruler who came to a kingdom and was rejected by his own people, and to his faithful servants he expects them to multiply what he has given them.
Ephesians 1:13 speaks of the Holy Spirit of promise. 1Peter 1:4 speaks of an inheritance incorruptible saved away for us in heaven.
We must spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, “Rescuing the Perishing” till all lost souls know the message of Jesus Christ. Our lives are to be spiritually productive – to bring Glory to God in everything and everywhere.

Pastor Caroline Barclay -Theme: Jesus is all about Us
There is no I or me in Jesus, but there is an Us in Jesus. Which tells us we are never alone, we need not step out by ourselves. When we step out to help others, we are showing and spreading the light of the world- who is Jesus.
Matthew 5:13-16
Our lives are to be different from those of the world thus this verse talks of our lives as salt and light. Our lives and everyday actions are to be a living witness always flavorful and a light pointing to Christ.
Jesus is the primary light. We are the secondary light. We are a reflector light of God’s light. When we come to church, we gather with those of like mind, to pray and support each other. Working together as an us, not on our own. When we work together, Us is a powerful unit, working together as doers of the word and not hearers only.

Note's from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Jean)

Dr. Barclay: Something to Think About

God is faithful, regardless of our spiritual resume.

God says he is with us always and he will give us what we need, but not everything we want.
Many religions require it’s adherents to do a series of tasks for their god to love them and accept them. In the midst of prison and shipwreck, Paul experienced great hardship and trial. Yet through it all he knew God loved him and he was able to encourage and teach others as he wrote the letter to the Ephesians during these times of difficulty.
Philippians 4:11-13
11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
We can trust God’s grace and faithfulness, without fearing we must earn his love and salvation.

The Lord saw to it that the message be acted out and not spoken so the message this Sunday night will explain. We had a powerful evening of personal prayer for many. Please join us Sunday night.
