Pastor Caroline - April 2, 2020

The reading today from David Jeremiah‘s book “Daily in His Presence”, raises an interesting question. What kind of strength does it take to stay faithful to God’s will? Well from this reading, I would say, you must be willing to die for what you believe. That indeed, takes a certain kind of strength.

I remember the news years ago about the Columbine shootings and the shooter asked a young girl if she was a Christian and she said yes. He then shot her. She knew what was coming, however,  she was willing to die for her faith. I believe today she lives fully in the presence of Jesus, having received her reward for “the greatest source of courage in life comes from knowing we are living in God’s will”, as stated in our reading today.  Now it wasn’t God‘s will for her to die in that way, (by the hand of the shooter), but, she gave up her life because of her belief in her Lord. How many of us have that kind of strength? A tough question for sure and what would your answer be?

As we come into the Easter season we are reminded of a man named Jesus, who was not only willing to die for us 2000 years ago, but chose to die for the sins of the world. He took “all our sin” upon Himself, carried it to the cross, and became our sin bearer as He was crucified. He died for us, He paid our debt, and offers us salvation as a gift. What a Saviour!! Are you willing to accept His gift, accept Him as Lord and Saviour of your life?
Then today I ask you to please give your life to Him. In these perilous times He is calling you. Let God’s will direct your steps everyday,  commit to doing his work here on earth, follow His plans and purpose for your life and receive His  joy in doing so, as our devotional instructs us today in the reading.

What a powerful message in this reading!! What a gift we are given in this Easter season if we choose to receive Jesus. He (Jesus )poured out His  life at Calvary to give us life eternal when we accept His invitation to follow him; the risen Christ, to eternity.

Will you receive the gift of Christ today? I pray your answer will be ”yes” and I pray you will seek out those who have already accepted Christ and ask them ”to help you live in God’s will and know the joy of doing so”
