Pastor Caroline - April 8, 2020

As I opened my devotional and read the reading today, David Jeremiah encourages us in his book, “Daily in His Presence”, to delight in the Lord. That surely is a good word for today,  “delight”,  at the very mention of the word our spirits are lifted. During these days of isolation we have lots of time to delight in the Lord. We can read His word (the Bible), view movies that are Christian-based, listen to worship music or perhaps call a friend and have prayer over the phone with them, so many ways to delight in the Lord. There certainly are many more and you will come up with your own special way to delight in the Lord.

As David writes in paragraph one he gives us scriptures about delighting in the Lord. Please read those scriptures carefully, then; chapter 2 tells us “the Lord delights in us!“ Wow, that is beautiful. And it causes my heart to flutter. To think that the same God who created this earth, and the same God who came to die for my sins, delights in me. It takes away my breath. especially as I recall the events of Holy Week. This week as we follow Jesus to the cross by reading scripture Matthew 26 verses 1 to 16, we read about the plot against Him,  He speaks about the Passover meal (the Last  Supper),  He is anointed with perfume and He is betrayed.

This same God promises all of us (who accept Him as Lord and Saviour), eternity with Him.  He delights in us!  We are truly blessed.

How can we put our worries of life into perspective? Well David tells us in paragraph 3 to start each day with the “euphoria of God’s joy” and end the day with the “assurance of God’s presence”. I would have to say this is excellent advice and instruction. I challenge you to take the next seven days and do that each day - honestly and earnestly . You will see a difference in how you “view life“ and how you “live life”. Then you will say, as David Jeremiah says in his reading; How wonderful to live such a life!

From Palm Sunday through to today we have had a special scripture from the Bible each day during this Holy Week, please  let me refresh these for you.
Palm Sunday- Matthew chapter 21 verses 1 to 11
Monday - Philippians chapter 2 verses 6 to 11
Tuesday - John chapter 12 verses 20 to 36
Wednesday - Matthew chapter 26 Verses 1 to 16

These scriptures  are all mentioned in the daily writings I have been bringing to you. I trust these have been a blessing to you as you delight in the Lord.
