Message- Signs & Warnings

Signs of Christ First Coming:
Genesis 49:10
Isaiah 7: 14
Micah 5:2

Signs of Christ Second coming:
Matthew 24:36-44

Signs our life with Christ is in trouble.

There are very important signs that we may be drifting away from Christ, when our Christian walk is not what it should be and our Christian witness toward others has been jeopardized and greatly harmed, to the point where others may see us a hypocrite. Signs such as, losing interest in Christ and the Bible, complaining, not being content and satisfied with what God has provided, willfully and actively sinning.
Hebrews 2:1-4

The bible warns us not to drift away from serving Christ.
Very rarely do people drift toward something, but very often they drift away from something.
God miraculously delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, yet they complained and their hearts became hard, even after God provided manna and quail for them to eat.
We need to grow in Christ so we can learn to understand and discern between good and evil. To progress in Christ it is necessary to read and study his Word.

1 John 3:6

At time we all sin, as we have a human nature. However there is a difference between sinning and willfully sinning. If we are mature in Christ we will want to stop sinning and refrain from it altogether. God clearly warns us not to slide and drift away. God warns us to study his word, stop sinning and do our best not to sin going forward. We must not become indifferent to God and let our hearts become cold and hard.

John 10:27-29

Salvation is of our own free will, it is up to us to choose Christ. We can loose our salvation if we go our own way and are enticed by the lures of Satan. We must remember it is easy to step into temptation, however it can be extremely hard to get out.

Salvation is like someone giving us a wonderful and special present. We can hold it and take care of it and no one can take it from us, or we can discard it at will, and bear great and awful consequences.

Here's some notes from Sunday's service. (Thanks, Jean)

Dr. Barclay: Something To Think About
We need to be serious about our life and commitment to Christ when we take communion.

Very often, today Christians do not take communion as serious as they should. In many churches over the years, one had to prove themselves worthy of taking communion by godly behavior and righteous lifestyle, which ensured you a token to present, such as in the Presbyterian church many years ago.
The children of Israel ate manna in the desert to give physical life on earth. Chris is the bread of life he gives us spiritual eternal life.
John 1: 13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 11:26-29 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
The bible clearly warns about taking communion unworthily and with a carefree attitude. When we have communion, it means that Christ walks with us. Let’s always ensure we are walking closely with him, obeying his commandments and that our attitude and actions match up with the gospel, thus we may take communion at peace with a clear conscience.

Pastor Caroline Barclay – Psalm 103
The Benefits Of God:
-Forgives all our sin.
-He heals, he keeps, he blesses and he fills.
Psalm 103
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,

There are earthly benefits that our jobs can give us, such as health and retirement benefits, but the benefits of God are so much greater than any monetary benefit we might receive. The benefits of this earth are physical and temporary, the benefits God give us are true contentment and will last us throughout all eternity. There is nothing in our life we can hide from God, so we need to take our cares to him and trust he will provide a solution. Our past is our past and it is covered by the blood of Jesus, that is what the cross is all about. If we are faithful in serving Christ and focused and consistent in serving him, we will receive the benefits of God and he will be there to see us through. When we are working for the Lord in our everyday lives, we will receive all his benefits and our lives will be truly blessed.
