Today, in the early morning rain I see a gentle soaking of the grass, turning it from a winter brown to a lush green carpet outside my window. I see rain droplets sitting on the branches of the trees where before long, those branches will be covered in beautiful leaves. As I look out onto the hills I see a cloud of gray that tells me the rain is not finished yet, but by noon the sun will break through. Everything outside my window is being washed clean (even my windows, thank you Lord), as God sends the showers to cover every square inch as far as I can see.
If God cares so much about the land to send the rain, do you not think He cares more about you? Well my dear friend, He does!! Matthew Chapter 6 verse 26 in the Good News Bible tells us:
(26)”Look at the birds flying around: they do not plant seeds, gather harvest and put it in the barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren’t you worth much more than these birds?”
Yes you are!!
God provides all our daily needs. He covers us in His protection, He supplies all our needs from His abundance, He shares the beauty of the landscape (four seasons every year), which changes daily for our pleasure, He supplies our every breath and every heartbeat, He allows the tears to fall, (when circumstances are more than we can handle), so that we can have release on our fragile emotions. Tears are a language He understands and when in pain or anguish He sends the Holy Spirit to comfort us. John Chapter 14 verse 16 gives us this assurance;
(16) “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever”.
God will provide for us just as He provides for the land and the birds. He will take “extra care“ in His attention to us as we are “very precious to Him“. His love, mercy and grace will soak into us (just as the rain soaks into the ground), bringing forth His goodness and beauty; and in this I am assured, for His word tells me so.
So let the rain fall, we all need a good soaking. And while we are inside from the wet of the rain, let’s soak ourselves in the beautiful words and promises found in the Bible. Let His love from the word cover everything you say, do, or think, everyday, and you will be washed clean and fresh, ready for the new growth He gives to you as you travel through this life, singing in the rain.
In the early morning rain, let His presence soak into every cell of your body and enjoy the freshness only He can bring.
