Dr. Barclay- Something to Think About:
The Bible Is Powerful

Treatment years ago for depression, anxiety and other Mental Health troubles was the Bible. For many people just one verse could make all the difference. This is true for many of the hymn writers we know such as John Newton and Robert Robinson. John Newton and Robert Robinson’s lives were turned around from sin by reading the bible. Robinson read the verse in 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. The words wrath to come stayed with him in his mind and caused him to think and turn from a life of sin and yield to God.
At near death John Newton said “I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Saviour”. Just like the hymn writers the bible can make a change in our lives greater than we can imagine. The Bible speaks about judgement and wrath more than it speaks about heaven. Judgement and wrath and the need for salvation is real and true. Just like years ago the bible is still the greatest medicine for us all.

Pastor Caroline – Theme: A Lifeline

What is our lifeline?
Prayer and the Bible are our lifelines.

Do we have a lifeline?
Who is our lifeline?
-Yes we have a lifeline, God is our lifeline.

God brings us peace and joy and happiness in times of anger, hurt and distress. Prayer is our solid connection with God. The Bible gives us stability. The bible teaches us about patience, loving kindness, forgiveness, obedience and contentedness. God wants us to be obedient to his word because it protects us. God calls us to share his lifelines with others, such as the bible and prayer. As we bless others by doing this, we will be blessed.

Psalm 71:5
For You are my hope, O Lord God;
You are my trust from my youth.
