Some notes from Sunday's service. (Thanks, Jean)
Dr. Spencer Barclay-Something to Think About
Theme: We must continue meeting together, the world can never replace the work of the church
Today people do not relay on the church the way they used to. People do not go to church the way they used to.
Hebrews 10:25
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as isthe manner of some, but exhorting one another,and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Scripture tells us, as Christians not to give up on meeting together. It is greatly important and beneficial for Christians to meet together and encourage each other.
Sadly today people now relay on government too much for all their needs. To the point that government has replaced the church. It can also be seen in some cases as government worship.
Galatians 6:9
9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
We must continue on, as scripture tells us to keep doing good, mediate on God’s word and not forsake meeting together.
Pastor Caroline – Theme: Wonderful times of refreshing in the Spirit of God.
Acts 2:13-42 This scripture reference is about the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit, how it empowers the life of the Christian and causes the church to be alive and grow.
Acts 2:13-17
13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
God loves us so much that he just pours his Holy Spirit in us and we need to sit back and soak it in. When the Holy Spirit flows over us, it may seem strange and peculiar to others, who are not familiar with the Pentecostal experience. However, which way God manifests himself, welcome it and enjoy it. Christ said he would send the Comforter, therefore let’s enjoy and live fully in that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. So that others will know that the Spirit of God dwells in us by our commitment to Christ, loving kindness and our very countenance, peaceful expression on our face, that only God can bring.
