Notes from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Jean)

Roxann Spicer------
Theme: Every day the question is asked of us, just like Moses asked the Children of Israel in Exodus 32:26 “Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me.”
-------let our lives reflect the answer.

A comparison of Exodus 24 and Exodus 32

Exodus 24

-Moses built an altar for the Lord. V: 4
-Moses sincere close relationship with God leads to cleansing of the people and true worship. V:5-8
-Moses reminds the Children of Israel of the covenant and they agree to it. V: 8
The Children of Israel ate and drank in the presence of the Lord with joy. V:11
-Moses defends God’s reputation. Moses will not receive any blessing, that is not intended for him.

Exodus 32

-Aaron built an altar in front of an Idol. V: 5
- Idol worship led to indulgence and revelry. V:6
-Aaron mixed what was holy with what was pagan. V: 8
- Moses reminds God of his promise to Abraham and the patriarchs. V:13-14
-Aaron acts in self preservation. V:21-22
-Aaron took no responsibility and casts blame on the people. V:21-24
-Levites were the only ones who stood with Moses. V: 26
-Forgiveness is given, but consequences remain. V:27-28
-Levites carried out a difficult task, cleansing had to be done. V: 27-28
- The close and sincere relationship Moses experienced with God in the cloud in ch. 24:15-18, prepared him for what he had to do in ch 32
-Moses and the Levites sought to please God and not man.
-Aaron showed no respect for the reputation of God or for the Children of Israel.
-In this chapter Aaron did not have a sincere relationship with God, Aaron was simply being religious.

Foreshadow
- Moses had intimacy with God. We can now have intimacy with God
- In Exodus Ch 32:11-14 Moses interceded for the crowd at the foot of the mount. Today Jesus intercedes for us at the right Hand of the Father.
-Moses serves in the position of High Priest. Jesus is our High Priest.
-God-Moses-Priesthood-People. Today we now have direct access to God.
-Exodus 24:11 The Children of Israel celebrate the Glory of God within eating, compared to Revelation 19:9 Marriage supper of the Lamb.

In our lives everyday we must ask ourselves are we playing the part of Moses or Aaron? We cannot be afraid to offend people we must be genuine. We must never settle for a counterfeit. We must seek the true worship of Jehovah at all costs.
