Sunday October 25, 2015

Here's s the notes from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Heather)

Hello all.
Please forgive the lateness. I will get right to it... (you'll have to read Peter's Picks Morning and night to catch up) :D

Something to Think about
- People are funny!
- We study, read, to go higher in your field, looking for those with the best instruction
- We practice
- When you get good, you tend to draw a crowd (scholars, inspirational speakers, Jesus...)
- We work to make income, then we spend more, having to work more...
- There has to be more to life!!
- 1 King 4. Solomon was wealthy and wisest!! You'd think with credentials like that people would flock... but the Bible wasn't well read.
- Solomon come to the conclusion that everything is meaningless. That God is behind everything, and we must keep His commandments.
- The problem is, people don't listen to the right people/experts!
- Discipleship... apprenticeship!
- Faith without works is dead... do you 'practice' your faith?
- We need to read, study and start doing... what we need to prosper in the world.
** I'm trying to find the True Discipline poem read. I will forward at a different point.

The Message ~ Pastor Caroline
-Psalm 5:1-3 (NLT): "O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.'
- We need to PRAY; in the am, at sunrise
- 'All we can do is pray' is not a cop-out, because it's the most powerful commodity!
- Sometimes I pray then look for a solution and find that He's already working it out.
- 'He's on it' as Amy says :)
- Entrust God with your prayers, claiming the victory... We need to PRAISE
- There's HEALING
- Isaiah 40:31; 'But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.'
- We can get burned out... sometimes bitterness and resentment settle in.
- But wait on the Lord, praying for strength... learn NOT to feel guilty... accept your limitations... search for wisdom... take time to mend in your healing.
- FAMILY
- Joshua 24:15; '... But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.'
- How do you earn such love and honor from family?
- LOVE
- In calamity He brings clarity
- He wants to counsel us and instruct us
- 1 Corinthians 13:13; 'Faith, Hope and Love; but the greatest of these is love'
- Love usually grows over time
- Sharing kindness build love
- FAITH (faithfulness)
- Psalm 89:8
- Keep praying for you family; ne of these times, there will be a breakthrough.
- Like flying, you could panic through turbulence, OR you can get comfortable and trust the pilot... You can't go anywhere anyways
- Give God the chance to minister to those you love
- This is how MHM began; building a church in us.
- As we reach out, His love abounds
- When we stay faithful... He's faithful.
- Speak into others to grow them
- When you're on your knees, you are closer to God.

Just a few tid-bits from God's heart.
Cheers
Heather

Sunday October 18,2015

Happy 'hump' day!! We've made it half way through yet another week. Isn't it amazing (good and/or bad) how much can happen in just 7 days?! Hope you see and recognize the blessings in your every day... for they are new every morning!!

Something to Think About
- we can all do something!
- When we go to heaven, sure we're saved, but then we are judged by our works.
- We won't all be evangelists, but plant a seed. Like in the Operation Christmas Child promo video; with each box, hope if created, a seed is planted.
- (Dr. Barclay told us a few history stories of how D.L. Moody came to Christ... as well how Billy Graham's journey started well before it actually reached him. Please check out our blog for video)
- We never know what will come about from mentioning the name of Christ!
- Always be ready to give a reason for the hope in you.
- Billy Sunday said 'Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile.'
- Only took ONE... to change the world!!
- Faith without works is dead.

The Message ~ Ken Hayden
- Faith & Hope
FAITH - is complete confidence or trust in a person or thing; or a belief not based on proof
- There are MANY stories in the Bible where evidence of people's faith brought God's provision.
- Matthew 15:21+ (daughter vexed with a devil). Because of the mother's great faith, her daughter was healed instantly!
- Mark 5:24+ (woman who bleed for 12 years). She heard what Jesus was doing saying and went to see him. Being among the crowd, she pressed in saying 'I SHALL be healed!' and touching his cloak, she was!
- This is the type of faith we need!
- When you touch Him with a faith touch, he will meet you!
- Devil's most powerful words... 'You can't!'
- Like Jesus in the wilderness, we need to claim... 'I CAN do all things'
- I think it's time we told the devil who he is... and who we are!
HOPE - a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
- Our hope is in Christ... finisher of our Faith.
- Exodus 14: Moses and the Red Sea.
- Moses was sent in by God to deliver children out of slavery. When they were facing the Red Sea, all seemed helpless... but God had a plan!!
- We need to get in on THE plan!!
- All things will work out when we walk in His plans.
- When there is darkness... sow seeds of light; when there is hurt... sow seeds of love...
- 1 Samuel 17: David & Goliath
- God had already been by David's side helping him kill a bear and a lion. For David, God could take care of Goliath in the same way.
- God is able to bring down the 'giants' in your life
- Sometimes we see them as giants when they're are not.
- Jesus still responds to Faith
- "You have not, because you ask not..."
- Might not happen over night... we may need to stay in the fight a bit longer.
- If you're going through trials, look up, don't look down or behind... He'll see you through!!
- Get in His presence... 'come into His presence with Thanksgiving, into His courts with praise'... there is no condemnation with Christ, so just praise!!

** Please note we are having our Christmas supper Friday, December 11th at a low lost of $15; HOWEVER, this is if we have a minimum of 80ppl signed up, so please let someone in our leadership know if you plan on attending, and how many. Invite a friend :)

Blessings!!

Sunday October 11, 2015

Some notes from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Heather)

Well as very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!! :)  Hope you were able to spend some time with friends and family over a turkey dinner, whether Canadian, or Canadian at heart ;)

With Pastor Caroline and Dr. Barclay still away, there is no 'Something to Think About' to report. But we had another great message from Pastor Todd from Shoreline Gathering Point, but OHHH so much one of us! :)

The Message
- There's a story of a man who went mountain climbing by himself. He got to the top, saw a storm coming and started his pursuit back down. With the fog so thick and not being able to see up or down, he just hung there. After praying to God for help he heard 'Let go!'. 'Let go God?! and what, fall to my death?! No I cannot see!'. When the fog disappeared, the man could see that he was merely just feet from the ground.
- Isn't this like us?! We pray, asking, seeking, but we don't 'believe' the answer... And God's saying 'I've done everything and you still don't believe?!'
- W-5
- In WHOM do I believe?
- The Government?... I'm sure they have Canada's interest as a whole in mind, but not mine.
- The Banks? Not out for MY best interests
- The economy?
- Nature?
- Karma?
- Family?
- Do I believe whole-heartedly on my God?
- He took my sin away... even way back then, before I was born!
- My entire life depends on  my belief on Him
- Proverbs 3:5,6
- Will he steer me wrong? NO, but I've often blamed things on Him.
- WHAT do I believe?
- Why is it that churches are shrinking but Apple is growing... ISIS is growing... Banks are growing...
- There are just sooo many voices!
- Matthew 5:11
- Do I test peoples words against the Word?
- Do I believe the Word to be true?
- WHERE do I believe?
- Now, sitting at church... when I leave the church...
- WHEN do I believe?
- "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words." - Francis of Assisi
- Church... gathering of the faithful, but where's my community?!
- When?! Wherever I am!.. There IS an expiry date on me!!
- Rev 8:7
- WHY do I believe?
- The truth is found all around me!
- I don't need to prove Him to others. Why do they want me NOT to believe?
- Proof is in Scripture, in artifacts...
- If I believe and am wrong... If I believe and am right... if I don't believe and I'm wrong... if I don't believe and am right... in each scenario, we all end up pushing up daisies. ONE difference, I live a selfish, empty, joyless life... or live in God's love, sharing that love to those around me.
- I believe because it's Truth!
- Psalm 46

We closed the night with this song. Take a few minutes to listen...

Here's some notes from Sunday's service (Thanks, Jean)

Pastor Todd Mac Donald
   Theme:  Is our belief sincere?

Do we truly believe what we are saying and walking in our Christian life?
Luke 7 New King James Version (NKJV)

Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant

7 Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving,5 “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant
, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.
9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” 10 [a]
The Centurion's faith in Jesus was very great. The centurion was Roman, not a Jew. He was outside of the Jewish faith and nation, yet he believed in Christ's divinity and authority. He recognized Jesus as Lord and believed Jesus truly would heal his servant.

LLuke 6:46-49New King James Version (NKJV)

Build on the Rock

46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.[a] 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.[b] And the ruin of that house was great.”
Are we  willing to lay down everything we have, in order to build on a firm foundation?
When trouble comes in our lives and all is lost, our foundation in Christ will be all that is left.

Luke 7:36-50New King James Version (NKJV)

A Sinful Woman Forgiven

36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”
40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”So he said, “Teacher, say it.”
41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”
And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”
48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Also read Mark 14:3-4
3 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted?

This alabaster jar was this woman's most valuable possession. The sent of the fragrant oil would bring an escape from her sinful life. This woman believed this was the anointing of a man about to die.  She believed in Christ with her whole heart and she gave up her sinful past. In the alabaster jar lied the oils she gave up to anoint Jesus, she gave all the wealth she had. She showed the whole world with this deed that she was choosing to follow Christ. Like the Centurion she recognized Christ divinity and knew he was not just any ordinary man.
At the time of Jesus greatest need Peter denied him three times, Christ was left all alone.
The disciples all left Jesus and deserted him out of fear. Peter said he loved the Lord and that he would feed his sheep, yet at the hour of Christ's greatest need he was no where to be found. Today Christ is physically not here, yet he is real and his promise in scripture that he is coming back is true. We need to work on getting rid of the skepticism in our lives.
Do we believe and look for miracles? God does not hint, he has put the truth right in front of us. Christ promised to come back and when he does he is coming back to rule and reign . King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The woman with the alabaster jar and the Centurion truly believed in Jesus they did not care what anyone else thought of them. They were bold they recognized Jesus divinity and authority and serve as  examples to us all.

This was an excellent message given by Pastor Todd he closed the service by blowing the shofar-the rams horn-the call to Shabatt Service- Worship of Jehovah

The closing benediction was the Aaronic blessing from Numbers 6: 24-26

24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”’
