Some notes from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Heather)

OH MY... what's that bright ball in the sky?! haha  It's so nice to see the sun here in Nova Scotia. Hope you see the SON around you today!

Re-cap of Sunday past...

Something to Think About
- Social media... easy way to pass judgement.
- We need to look at evidence and not judge too quickly
- Matt 7:1-2.  Decisions are judgements (per se), but not what this scripture is talking about. Opinions are based on personal experiences and understanding, still not what this scripture is talking about.
- You don't always have all the facts why someone does something!
- Men and women in the Bible days did things that God was not blessed with; HOWEVER, God honored their lives later in life (some of them)
- In spite of their actions, decisions, and problems they still believed in God!!
- We are all guilty of crimes and sins, which should cost us everything.
- We are all sinners, therefore we are no more guilty than anyone else; we are no more innocent then anyone else.
- We all pass judgement but we may be surprised when we get to heaven as to who will be there!!
- The man on the street may have a bigger heart for Christ than the one in the church pew...
- Something to think about.

We had a special guest in church. Brayden, a local 10 year old, had been raising money for kids with cleft lips. He has raised $240 which is the cost of helping one child. What a big heart this little guy has. I've attached the link to his story. Please take a look :) Brayden left service with a cheque of $480 from Master's Hand Ministry. God has certainly blessed our church to be a blessing... here, blessing 2 more children with this surgery!! Did I saw '2'?! Make sure to read the story below!

The Message ~ Pastor Caroline

- GPS: Global Positioning System
- But tonight... God Providing Salvation
- It's provided for everyone!
- Like GPS, we are relying on God's power to direct us
- How important is the Bible??
- It provides solutions from A-Z
- Do you need salvation to enter heaven?  John 3:1-17
- Psalm 25:25
- Psalm 50:23
- Jesus is the bread of life... sustaining you every day
- John 6:25-29
- He holds nothing back, and we shouldn't either
- Ephesians 2:8-9 (saved by Faith)... GPS!
- Acts 4:12
- There's only one name... Jesus!
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- 1 John 2:1,2
- John 1:12,13
- John 14
- John 6:47
- Jesus came to provide salvation, to pay our debt. All we need to do is accept Him
- Have you accepted Jesus into your heart?
- Do you want to know you're saved?
- He's waiting for you!
- Now is the time...

A few notes from Sunday’s service. (Thanks, Bill)

For videos of Dr. Barclay’s Something to Think About and Roxann Spicer’s sermon, click on –

John and Roxann Spicer blessed us with their music, keeping with their theme of the evening; The Cross.

The service opened with prayer and a welcome song.

Peter MacLaren gave the financial report. We are truly blessed to
be able to share so much.

Something to Think About – Dr. Spencer Barclay

Why do we study the Old Testament

Everything in the New Testament is in the Old Testament

God chose David

As wise as Solomon was even he did not walk with God all the
time

When Solomon died his kingdom was divided

It is important to learn from the past

There is no new thing under the sun

Just because we are in the place we are doesn't mean it's going to
stay that way

Every great civilization seems to have fallen as they turned away
from God.

Sermon - Roxann Spicer

After opening in prayer, Roxann spoke from the Book of
Colossians, Peter's letter to  the Church in Colossae, which was
written while he was in jail.

The word of God should be read happily with joy.

Not enough of today's churches speak on the Bible.

God loves you and is concerned about you
.
Talk to God to build your spiritual strength
.
Just Sunday' s are not enough. Talk to God all week.

Pray while you're waiting. While you are doing just about anything,

Anywhere. Any time.

Use common sense.

Sing. Sing your hearts out.

So much we can learn by just reading.

The service closed in prayer and praise music.

Sunday July 12, 2015.

A few notes from Sunday's service.  (Thank-you, Jean)

Something to Think About

Dr. Barclay spoke of the importance of praying for our country's leaders and government.

Dr. Barclay told the encouraging news of an Evangelical church in Cairo Egypt. That has over 7000 members and that baptism services are held almost every month.  He stated with the previous regime, baptisms were held perhaps twice a year and now with a change in government the church is growing and baptisms could be held every week. This news is exciting and uplifting and speaks to the power of prayer, the people of Egypt prayed for their country and their government, God answered their fervent prayer and their rulers were replaced.

God makes the rules for us to live by. We have to obey them if we want to live and  be blessed and see Heaven.

In 1 Samuel chapter 8 the people of Israel no longer wanted Judges, they insisted and requested they be governed by a King. Samuel gave them good warning (verse 18). God still let the people of Israel make their own choice. They wanted a King so they could be like the heathen nations around them (verse 20).

We should always be careful what we wish for. We just might get it and it may not be what we thought it would be. Saul was Israel's first King. He had all the outward qualities of a King. However he did not have a heart for God. Saul did not follow God. Saul's legacy was of very poor governance. The person who reigns over us must be just and follow after the rule of God. David did not have the worldly expectations of a King and did not physically look like a King. Yet David served Israel well and was a very good ruler and King.

Canada will be facing an decision soon with an upcoming election. We should remember the children of Israel and how their requests and decisions had long lasting consequences. It is not just enough to vote we must study and research our leaders and examine their policies and platforms. We must pray for our country and nation, and pray fervently  for those who rule over us.

Rev. Steve Webb

Reverend  Steve Webb talked about having bad days and how we cannot complain and feel bad for ourselves till we fully understand what Jesus went through. Reverend Webb took us on a study of Mark  Chapters 5 and 6.  As soon as Jesus gets out of the boat he is faced with a legion of smelly death ridden demons. A legion can range from 3000 to 6000. Jesus healed the man that had been possessed  by the demons and drove the demons into a heard of pigs.  This man became a great missionary  going home and telling his friends of his healing  and deliverance (Mark 5:19-20).
Also there had been a woman with an issue of blood that had perused  Jesus for a healing. She had been unsuccessful  in seeking  treatments from various doctors. This woman had great faith, she touched Jesus clothes and was instantly healed of her disease. Jairus was one of the rulers of the Synagogue, yet he recognized   there was something special about  Jesus  (Mark 5 Verse 22). He requested that Jesus heal his daughter. Jesus said to Jairus only believe. Jesus healed Jairus twelve year old daughter who had been near death.

The man delivered of demons and Jairus daughter and the woman with the issue of blood  will never be the same again and will forever be thankful and grateful. Jesus worked miracles and spoke with great authority, however as we read in Mark 5 Verse 40 many people doubted his healing power they laughed and scorned at him.  In Mark Chapter 6 Verses 1 to 6 we read how some people  and some religious rulers were offend at Jesus and disrespected him. The people  had shaken their fists at God and were offended by him. They could not see and fathom his goodness and compassion and forgiving heart. Jesus was rejected and not appreciated by his own people in Nazareth. Jesus had spent his whole day doing good and yet was mocked and humiliated Jesus shows a great example of pressing on and doing good even in the midst of hardships
This was an excellent message reminding us as Christians to never give up and keep on following our Lords example.

At the close of the service  Pastor Caroline reminded us that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Some notes from Sunday's Service.  (Thanks, Jean)

Due to technical difficulties, this weeks sermon will not be available on our YouTube channel. Our sincere apologies.

Dr. Barclay-Something to Think About. The importance and lasting effects of the choices we make here on Earth.

As Christians we need to change our hearts from time to time. Always keeping ourselves in check. Keeping our hearts in circumspect.
Many times people will be taught the right way, yet often go back to their sin and have to repent and start on the right road all over again.
Deuteronomy 11:1-32

The children of Israel made choices sometimes to follow God  and sometimes to serve idols follow after falsehoods.
In verse 16, God clearly warned the people not to stray from serving Jehovah, lest they  be deceived into follow after idols and false gods.
In verses 26 to 28 the people are advised , that they have a choice to serve God wholeheartedly and live under his provision and blessing. Or if not, a curse will be upon them and they will be removed from the protection of God.

An Example where we see God's reward for faithfulness is in the book of Ruth.
Elimelech the husband of Naomi died and her two daughter's in law made choices. Both Ruth and Orpah husbands  died and thus they were both widows. One daugther in law Orpah went back to her own people in Moab. The other stayed with her mother in law Naomi and they went to Bethlehem .
Ruth 1:16  Ruth did not leave her elder mother in law alone, she stayed with her and respected her. Ruth worked in the barley fields . She was a loyal, steadfast hard worker. Ruth obeyed her mother in law Naomi and followed her instructions -Ruth 3:3-10
God Blessed Ruth with a husband named Boaz, who became her Kinsmen Redeemer.
Ruth 4:7-12
Boaz is a foreshadow of Jesus. Boaz like the Lord oversaw everything that was going on. He took Ruth under his wing and provided a home , shelter, refuge and protection. Jesus bought back our soul with his death on Calvary. We are redeemed, with a secure home in Heaven and not lost to Hell.
If we remain faithful to God and obey his word, we will enjoy life in Heaven. If not we will face the consequences of sin and be separated from God for all eternity.
All throughout  the Bible God shows us where the choices we make will result in where we spend eternity.

Pastor Caroline spoke on the Joy of the Lord

The dictionary tells us that Joy is something that makes you happy and gives you pleasure. Yet Paul reminds the Philippians their life is a gift from God. Philippians 4:4-5
The world will tell us that Joy is all about pleasing yourselves, making ourselves happy. Yet the old Sunday School adage is forever true Joy is,   Jesus - Others - You.
Paul was in Jail when he wrote the Philippians this letter, he could have been sad and depressed, but he had the Joy of the Lord. God wants us to live in his presence and to fellowship with him daily. Do not focus on the negative things . Good times are just within our grasp if we wait.
Psalm 37:4
When our heart is open to God we will not be concerned with the things of this world.
Psalm 3:5
Prayer should be the first thing we start the day with. We should always pray for others first, ourselves last. Prayer will help us to start the day off with a good attitude. For each new day God has a purpose and a plan , we are never out of God's sight.
True Joy comes from the happiness we will have when serving others.
1 Thessalonians 5 :16-18
We are to pray, rejoice and give thanks continuously
When we meet Father God in Heaven our joy will be complete.

We had a very good service with many in attendance. Communion was observed and the old hymn I Surrender was sung.
