Notes from Sunday Jan. 25 Service

Here we are into the last week of January and only getting our first big snow now.

Here are some notes on Sunday’s service. (Thanks, Jean)

Congregation stood for a moment of silence to remember Fleur Mainville reflecting on her contributions and blessings to Pictou County through her talent, music and beautiful personality.

Dr. Barclay spoke on Exodus 4:22
He stressed the importance of learning about the Jewish Festivals and Holidays and their benefits to Christians.
Dr. Barclay talked about the importance of the number 10.
10 plagues and 10 commandments.
Exodus 12:3
The Children of Israel were told to eat unleavened Bread. Leaven means sin.
Leaven was developed by the Egyptians.
The Children of Israel often turned to idol worship, even when commanded by God not to.
During trials many people turn to God. However when the trial is over, many people turn back to a life of sin. Forgetting what God has done for them and going back to a life of comfort.

Roxann Spicer  spoke on Hebrews 12:5-13     Romans 9:14-21

Her theme was the Sovereign Nature of God

God is Sovereign over us.
God loves and leads us, yet he also disciplines us.
God sees everything and pays attention to our lives like a good parent.
Psalm 91:1
God's authority in our lives is for our own good and benefit.

The service closed with music and prayer.

God Bless and have a great week.
