From Sunday January 11, 2014

Hi!

I haven't got the regular notes from this Sunday's service so I am giving a crack at it myself.

This week the music was brought to us by John and Roxann Spicer.

Something to think about by Spencer Barclay- 7 reasons to attend church, 7 things to think about.

Pastor Caroline Barclay brought the message on words.

Most of remember saying this from our childhoods:
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."

-That isn't true. Words do hurt.

-Both spoken and unspoken.

-When words hurt do you lash back with anger or be positive.

-You can change a situation by being positive.

-Saying the wrong thing sometimes hurts. Try not to let the wrong words slip out.

-Words can bring joy.

-Words can make or break your walk with God.

Some of the Scripture that was quoted:

Proverbs 15-1A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Psalm 141-3Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips!

Proverbs 15-23A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

Ecclesiastes 5-7For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

-When you speak to people you can influence them in a positive way.

-Lives can be changed by words

-Let the words that come out of our mouths be beautiful.

-Choose your words wisely.

After the Pastor spoke, we received Communion, then closed with music and prayer.

Have a great week and God Bless

Bill
