Dr. Barclay – Something to Think About

We must be true follower’s of Christ, firmly planted in his word, so we do not fall prey to the snares of the Devil.

Quote from Phil Moore “The church’s biggest danger has never been too few converts, but too many false ones.”

Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Paul was a true convert, he came to the realization that he truly was a sinner and that he needed Christ. We all must realize we are wrong going our own way; we will only be blessed if we turn from ourselves and go God’s way.
The book of 1 Thessalonians is a course for true converts. 2 Thessalonians is a course for warriors.
Throughout history and today, Satan has been trying to undermine the church with doubt and false teachers.
New Christians need a strong foundation in the faith and receive strong support from fellow mature Christians. Like a plant Christians need to be firmly planted in the same soil and not tossed about with every storm and moving about from place to place.

1 Thessalonians 2: 13  this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

A major problem with Christianity today is that people are not earnestly studying the word of God. Reading, searching and knowing the word of God is essential to the Christian life.
The Devil tries to undermine our fellowship. We must make friends in the Church, encourage and build each other up.
The Devil also tries to undermine our worship and devotion. We must continually improve and work on our spiritual life, to be more like Christ, so that we can impact and bless others for the Lord. Doing all things to the Glory of God with our focus on eternity.

Pastor Caroline Barclay -Theme: Christ desires for us to be at peace and to rest in him.

Matthew 11:28-30 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Christ’s love extends an invitation, such as the Lord saying come unto me.
In many ways God calls us to “come unto me”, in situations in life such as a newborn baby falling asleep in our arms, or a medical team telling us a loved one will be all right.
God is a good God and he supplies rest to the weary.
The Christian needs not to worry or fret, but to trust in the peace and faithfulness of God. God welcomes us to come unto him, sit a while, fellowship and enjoy his presence.
When the Devil fills our days with obstacles and set backs; we are to throw those obstacles right back at him, we need to step over those obstacles, as God lifts us higher.
We are to live in a no fret zone and rest in God.
