Dr. Barclay- Something to Think About

Theme: We must promote and grow the investment God has given us to further his kingdom.
When we receive God’s gift of grace and mercy. We have to do something with this gift. We must share God’s love and teach others about Christ.
The parable of the talents is noted in Matthew 25:14-30
Servant with five talents, increased double and made another five. Servant with two increased double and made another two. However the servant with one talent, dug it into the ground and hid it, he did not do any investing or trading to grow his money. The christian walk is like this parable. We are all to increase Christ’s kingdom. A similar parable is found in Luke 19:11-27
The parable of the Minas, a noble man gives each servant 10 minas and this noble man goes to a distant country to appoint himself king. The noble man went to a Kingdom where people did not want him as a ruler. Christ is a ruler who came to a kingdom and was rejected by his own people, and to his faithful servants he expects them to multiply what he has given them.
Ephesians 1:13 speaks of the Holy Spirit of promise. 1Peter 1:4 speaks of an inheritance incorruptible saved away for us in heaven.
We must spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, “Rescuing the Perishing” till all lost souls know the message of Jesus Christ. Our lives are to be spiritually productive – to bring Glory to God in everything and everywhere.

Pastor Caroline Barclay -Theme: Jesus is all about Us
There is no I or me in Jesus, but there is an Us in Jesus. Which tells us we are never alone, we need not step out by ourselves. When we step out to help others, we are showing and spreading the light of the world- who is Jesus.
Matthew 5:13-16
Our lives are to be different from those of the world thus this verse talks of our lives as salt and light. Our lives and everyday actions are to be a living witness always flavorful and a light pointing to Christ.
Jesus is the primary light. We are the secondary light. We are a reflector light of God’s light. When we come to church, we gather with those of like mind, to pray and support each other. Working together as an us, not on our own. When we work together, Us is a powerful unit, working together as doers of the word and not hearers only.
