Sunday Night Service Notes (Thanks, Jean)
Dr. Barclay - Theme: In Christianity we have to be all in, there are no sidelines.
Theists- Believe in a God.
Agnostics- Do not know if there is a God or not.
Atheist- Do not believe in God.
Apathist- do not care if there is a God or where they will go when they die. Today the majority in society fall under the apathist category. People have no interest in God and think they have no need for God. The bible warns of a great falling away. In Revelation 3:14-22 we read of the church of Laodicea, they were so moderate they were neither hot or cold, rendering them ineffective.
Matthew 5:14-16 tells us we are the light of the world, our lives should shine brightly in deeds and words, bringing glory to our Father in heaven. This should serve as a reminder to all Christians, we should never be lukewarm. In 2017; we should let our lights shine ever so brightly, always pointing others to Christ.
Pastor Dave McLean - Theme: The fulling of the Holy Spirit is essential for boldness and a strong witness.
God wants the best for his children. It is time the church grew up and started thinking beyond denominations. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is vital for the church today. Great will be our effectiveness as Christians when the fullness of the Holy Spirit occupies our mind, spirit and flesh.
If we want freedom in our lives we must always tell the truth. When we live right we will feel better. We are created in the image of the living God, his likeness. It is time for Christians to stand up for what they believe, we need to be bold and hold firm to the truth, in this world of false religion and compromise. The bible tells us to seek spiritual gifts. We need the fulling of the Holy Spirit now more than ever.
Ephesians 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, |
