Sunday October 23, 2016

A few notes from Sunday's service:

Something to Think About

Why are we supposed to be in the Saviour's shadow?
  1. Protection under the wing of God.
  2. Proximity. To be close to God.
  3. Position. We have to be humble or lower than the Lord.
Walk in the Lords shadow where you are supposed to be.

Sermon
Morgan Mac Donald

I'm not ashamed of the Gospel
We all have a story
Christians here tonight have a story of new life. New hope.
Jesus has shaped who you are today
Some are new Christians with a shorter story.

Paul said I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the only way for man to find his way out of sin.

The gospel is sufficient
Nothing can impact the mind like the gospel. To change the heart. The gospel is sufficient to change the will. We want to please God.

The simplicity of the gospel.
God loved me so much He sent his only son to save me.
God supplied the righteousness for me.
Paul said, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
To be a Christian you lead a Christian life.
Only Christ can save us from our sins.
It's simple; believe and you will be saved.

Closed in prayer.

Sunday October 16, 2016

Hi, Here are some notes from Sunday's service. (Thanks, Jean)

Before the service, the leadership of the church presented Pastor Caroline with a gift of appreciation in Pastor Appreciation month.

Dr, Barclay: God is fair and will use anyone who will serve and follow him.

When taking a close look at the genealogy noted in Matthew chapter 1, we learn at great deal about the grace and love of God.
Acts 10:34
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Rachab was a pagan and not part of the household of Israel, she was a prostitute and yet she sheltered the spies sent by Joshua and then she married a Jew named Salmon. Rachab left her pagan ways and recognized Jehovah as divine and the all powerful, one true God ( Joshua 2:11) This marriage resulted in a son named Boaz who married Ruth, who was a pagan moabitess, yet she left the pagan ways of Moab and embraced Lord God Jehovah. Ruth and Boaz had a son named Obed and from him came Jesse and then David and this lineage traveled right on down to Jesus our Lord. This shows that God can and will use anyone, to carry out his work on this earth. Regardless of their position, status, wealth or reputation. We simply need to reject falsehoods and sin and follow Christ wholeheartedly.

Kenneth Hayden: We must go God’s way and not our own.

Exodus 16:11-21
11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’”
13 So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 14 And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take forthose who are in his tent.’”
17 Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18 So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need. 19 And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” 20 Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. 21 So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted.
In this passage we learn that the children of Israel were to gather manna for their nourishment for that day. They were strictly told not to hoard or store away any for the next day. Yet some people disobeyed and the manna they thought they were saving, was destroyed. We learn here; if we want success we must do things God’s way, not our own, or the way we see fit.

John 6:31-35
31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
Jesus is the spiritual bread, and yet he also supplies the earthly needs such as health, friends, jobs etc. Jesus wants us to live a pure and holy life, not stagnant and defiled. God wants our lives to be like pure water, with sin filtered out. God wants the church to purify itself and live a holy life.
John 4:14
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Our lives should spring up a well that touches others and testifies of the power of Christ. For we are powerless in our own physical strength, without Christ truly dwelling within, we cannot be an effective christian. Like the old hymn our prayer should be
Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!

Sunday October 9, 2016

Hi

Here's some notes from Sunday's service. (Thanks, Jean)

Dr. Barclay: Choices are extremely important.

We never know at the moment what the results will be when we make choices at any given moment. The bible is full of examples of real humans who faced grave choices such as Rahab, she made the choice to hid the Hebrew spies in Joshua 2 and she was blessed for doing such a brave thing and putting her life on the line for the children of Israel.

Joshua 2:14
14 So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”

Elimelech in Ruth 1 made the choice to take his family from Judah the land of Yahweh to the heathen country of Moab of foreign gods and sinful practices. This choice had disastrous consequences resulting in poverty and the death of his two sons. However Ruth makes the choice to go to Judea with her mother in law Naomi; and this choice brought blessing to her, God provided her a home and a Godly husband.
Many times in history countries and world leaders have faced important choices, the results of some choices have been greatly beneficial and others have resulted in death and misfortune.
The bible tells us Christ has chosen us and we need to accept his choice.

John 15:16
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
Joshua 24:14-15
14 “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua warned the children of Israel to turn away from foreign gods and idols served by their enemies. But ultimately the choice was up to them as it is to us today, we all need to heed Joshua’s call to chose today whom we will serve. A true surety is that every choice has consequences whether blessings of great benefit or results of grave despair. Therefore we must chose Christ and follow his law, for as St. Paul warns us -for in due season we shall reap the results of everything we sow.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Pastor Caroline Barclay: The Christian is to have a heart of Thanksgiving.

Phllippians 4:19
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The bible should be the manuscript of our lives. Christians have so much to be thankful for. When we are down we need to praise and thank God for everything, even our life itself. We must always remember that Christ is as close as the whisper of his name and that we never walk alone. We all need to be ever thankful to God for paying the price of sin and providing eternal life in heaven, through his son Jesus. As we become more like Christ and think on his goodness, we will be filled with love in our hearts and will want to give to others, asPsalm 103:2 says Bless the Lord, O my soul, andforget not all his benefits:When we are faithful and sincerely serve God -the benefits of the righteous -only eternity will fully reveal. We can never out give God.

Psalm 118:1

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Sunday October 2, 2016

First, Congratulations to John and Roxann Spicer on having completed their “Continuing Education Plan” of Faith Christian Fellowship Canada.

They were presented their certificates on Sunday October 3, 2016 by President Rev. Bill and Duska Annis during out evening service.

We at Master’s Hand Ministry wish them all the best as they move forward toward being ordained and fulfilling the Divine call on their lives, in God’s perfect timing.

and now.....

Here's some notes from Sunday's service.  (Thanks, Jean)

Bill Annis – God is a giving God and he gives his light to illuminate the path for the righteous.

Song of Solomon 2:17
Until the day breaks
And the shadows flee away,
Turn, my beloved,

And be like a gazelle
Or a young stag
Upon the mountains of Bether
.

People were never created for darkness. We were created for light. In God there is noting but good. We are not to be in the shadows, for in the shadows lurks evil.

Matthew 4:16
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.”

From that day the light had come and people dwelt in the shadows no longer. Everything around us declares the glory of God, the heavens, the oceans, the trees etc. Creation declares there is a God and there is life!

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Great is Thy faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God.

Revelation 21:23
The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory  of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

The gospel is preaching the forgiveness of sin, and then people receiving and turning and ceasing from their sin. When people become salt and light it gives them a purpose in life. Christians are to be a light that will dispel the darkness. God’s power can not be contained and is unstoppable when his spirit is in the hearts of men and women.

2 Corinthians 4:1-7
Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus , not the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

The power in the frail vessels is from God, not our own selves. Therefore all power and glory belongs to Christ alone.
