Sunday August 28, 2016

Here's some notes from Sunday's service:

Something to Think About
Discouragement

Life is not easy
Not enough money
Not enough time
Troubles at work

We go to church to get built up. Rejuvenated.
Even pastors get discouraged.
Many people in the Bible were discouraged, but had faith to keep going.
Abraham
Abraham's wife.
Noah
Very few don't get discouraged.
Discouragement lasts for a day. Faith lasts forever.

Pastor Caroline

We need to draw into places where we can be encouraged like the retreat.
A time to be rested and filled. A time to reflect.

Prayer and Change
Daniel 6
Daniel with the lions.
Can one person make a difference?
Jesus made a difference.
Each one of our lives are changed by Him
Fifteen years ago our lives were changed by a few people.
Daniel 6:1

Daniel refused to not pray to God
The king had to give orders for Daniel to be thrown to the lions. When he went there in the morning Daniel was still alive. Angels had saved him from the lions.
King Darious decreed that the whole kingdom would worships he God Daniel worshipped.
When we are discouraged we have to pray.
Verse 19-22

Daniel knew the power of prayer. He was able to change the king

Prayer will change things
Never give up on prayer.

Our God is an awesome God
Everything we need God is.
Prayer brings comfort and peace.
Prayer changes things.

Prayer is like oxygen to our spiritual life.

Some notes from Sunday's service:

Something to Think About

Believe

Treasure?
Lottery?

Thomas said unless I see myself I will not believe.

We all the time believe in things we can't see

Air, gravity, fragrances of ours, audio waves.
God protects us from seeing what's all around us all the time.
Romans 18
We can't see God in person but nature shows us there is an invisible God.

Roxann Spicer

Not many of us can speak in front of people
The power of God allows us to.

People don't like taking risks for fear they will get hurt. Physically or emotionally.
Every relationship takes risk.
Marriage is a risk every day.
Love is a risk but the right kind of risk.
Elijah was a man familiar with risks:
1 Kings 17:1-7
1 Kings 17:8-24
1 Kings 18:1-40
1 Kings 18:41-45

Elijah goes out in power and authority! He leaves something behind that is bigger than himself. He didn't start there - He had to grow into the man he was. BY RISK!

God is always going to be there.

God redeems what idols, broken, discarded.

2 Cor 5:16-21

2 Cor 5:18-40

We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ.

We will only experience the fullness of God when we risk.

When all of us walked through this door we took a risk. We didn't know what would happen.

We have to get up and go and take more risks in the Lord.

Get up from our safe place and let God use you.
God restores,
gives value
God takes what is old and broken and makes it new. That's what He did to each one of us.

* Please note there will be no evening service on Sept. 11th.

Sunday August 7, 2016

Some notes from Sunday's service:

During "Something to Think About", Dr. Barclay spoke on who is in control.

Pastor Caroline's sermon:

Pastor Caroline opened by asking the congregation, "If you take nothing else home to-night, take this:
Remember the authority we have in Jesus

Sermon

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. ...
Know who the Creator is and who created us. ....
We need to trust Him in testing times.
Ask: Am I strong enough in my faith to whether the storms of life. Only you can answer that question.

The Lord wants us too trust Him in all things.
We can't change things by worrying.
We need to get on our knees and pray.
If you're struggling with something in life, trust in God and stand on your Faith.

Remember that you are a CHILD OF THE KING.
If something takes you to your knees, look up and say I'm the King's Kid.

When you are witnessing to someone be strong in your faith.
Stand tall in your shoes.

The devil would like to see you down, but you're not going down, you're going up.
Read Hebrews and read about faith.
